When Obvious Isn’t Obvious

27 July 2025 by Jen Waller
A rectangular image with a warm amber-orange background. On the left side, there is a glowing white light bulb lying horizontally with its metal base slightly lifted off the ground, casting a soft shadow below. To the right of the bulb, bold black text reads: "It has been said that there is nothing more uncommon than common sense." Below the quote, the attribution is given in smaller black text: (Thomas Chalmers). The image evokes a feeling of illumination, simplicity, and thoughtful reflection.

Sometimes what’s obvious… isn’t. At least not when we’re caught in our heads.

What If the Real Obstacle Isn’t the Fear Itself?

26 July 2025 by Jen Waller
A square image with a light grey background. At the top is a motivational quote in bold black text that reads: "The most difficult thing is the decision to act. The rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life and the procedure. The process is its own reward." Below the quote, in smaller font, the author is credited as (Amelia Earhart). At the bottom of the image is an orange origami tiger with black stripes, casting a soft shadow beneath it. The overall image conveys courage, momentum, and the gentle dissolving of fear.

The decision to act can seem like the hard part, but once we begin, momentum builds.

Some Truths Are Meant to Be Felt

25 July 2025 by Jen Waller
A quote image with layered watercolour brush strokes in green, yellow, and turquoise tones. The quote reads: "If we could but paint with the hand what we see with the eye!" (Honoré de Balzac)

Some truths aren’t easy to explain—but that doesn’t make them any less real.

What You Pay Attention to Grows

24 July 2025 by Jen Waller
Quote reads: “Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity.” (Simone Weil). Behind the quote, a pair of glasses sits on a table. The background outside the glasses is blurred, but through the lenses, a vivid and colourful coastal town comes into sharp focus. The image highlights clarity through focused attention.

What if attention itself is a form of care? A reflection for International Self-Care Day.

When Thought Looks Like Truth

23 July 2025 by Jen Waller
Image of a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds drifting across it. One cloud trail resembles a swirl of thought bubbles. Overlaid text reads: "Thought is a kind of opium; it can intoxicate us, while still broad awake." (Henri-Frédéric Amiel)

Thought can feel urgent and true even when it’s not. Here’s what happens when we stop taking it so seriously and look underneath.

Welcome isn’t just a word on the mat

22 July 2025 by Jen Waller
A small brown-and-white Jack Russell terrier sits on a doormat that says “WELCOME” in capital letters. Behind the dog is a white-painted door. The quote on the image reads: “Ask about your neighbours before buying the house.” (Japanese proverb)

Sometimes your whole body knows whether you belong — before your mind catches up.

Whose Voice Gets the Final Say?

21 July 2025 by Jen Waller
A sea of soft white and pale pink 3D heart shapes piled up on a flat surface. One red heart in the centre stands out among the muted tones. Overlaid text in black reads: “It never ceases to amaze me: we all love ourselves more than other people, but care more about their opinions than our own.” (Marcus Aurelius)

We can be deeply kind and generous to others and harsh and doubtful toward ourselves!
We may know what feels right in our bones, yet second-guess it the moment someone raises an eyebrow.
