We move so easily between past and future that sometimes we forget where life actually happens.
It’s funny how moments that feel recent can turn out to be decades ago.
A film, a song, a piece of clothing, something small can suddenly remind us how much time has passed.
When that happens, I sometimes find myself thinking, “How can it be forty years?”
And equally, “How could someone not know this thing that feels so familiar?”
Our relationship with time can be strange.
We move between past and future in our minds so easily that sometimes it feels like we live there, reliving what already happened, or pre-living what might come next.
When our thoughts are caught up in that kind of mental time travel, life can feel like it’s speeding by.
But when we drop back into the present, even for a moment, everything steadies.
There’s a quietness there.
A sense that beneath all the movement of memory and anticipation, something is always still.
That’s where clarity lives.
Not in controlling time, but in being here for it; awake, aware, and alive to this moment, just as it is.
