Yearly Archives: 2014

Guest Post Invitation

guest post invitation

Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been posting a review of the content here on Coaching Confidence, the coaching blog – including the fabulous selection of guest posts that feature each Friday.

The guest posts have taken a short break over this festive season but start again this Friday with our first guest post of 2015.

As we end one year and turn our attention to the next I wanted to take the opportunity to publicly thank again each guest poster who has generously taken the time to share their own experiences and knowledge in 2014 guest posts.

I look forward to continuing to host guest posts each Friday filled with content that will interest coaches – I know there are already some great guest posters scheduled in for the start of 2015.

It’s the time of year where many are turning their attention on new starts or growing on existing foundations. If writing and/or growing your profile is on such a list for you let me share a bit about the guest post feature so you can see if it’s a fit with what you’re looking for – I’m always happy to hear from new potential guest posters.

Let me answer a few common questions below and if you’re interested contact me using the form below and I can expand further.

What can the content of a guest post be about?

The actual content is decided upon by the guest poster BUT it must be something that will be of interest to the blogs readers – other coaches who can come from a wide range of different areas of coaching specialisation and niches.

Whilst it’s not an exhaustive list many posts fall under the broad categories of:

  • personal experience with coaching/ having a coaching business,
  • sharing different aspects of coaching knowledge/approaches,
  • topics around establishing/ running a coaching practice/business

I do have a list of questions that I’m happy to share with guest posters to help spark inspiration and I’m happy to discuss specifics with guest posters.

Who can be a guest poster?

Generally guest posters are either coaches themselves or work with coaches – this means that they have an understanding of what content will interest coaches.

While some of the fantastic guest posters since 2010 have decades of coaching experience we have also had some who are just establishing their coaching practice – so do not rule yourself from being a guest poster because you don’t think you have enough experience. As far as I’m concerned it’s that mix of perspectives that makes the Friday guest posts what they are.

Bio’s/ Links

At the end of each guest post there is an “About the author” heading, this is where we put your bio. It’s there to give the reader the opportunity to find out more about the guest poster and their background.

I also like it to include ways (i.e. a link(s)) so that anyone who wants to find out more about your work etc can easily connect with you and your work.

What are guest posters actually committing to?

  1. Providing a guest post via email by the date agreed
  2. Providing a bio to be included on your guest post, again by the date agreed.

That’s it – if you are on twitter and you let me know your username then I can include that in any promo about your post.

Interested in being a guest poster?

If the above fits with what you’re thinking for 2015 then I invite you to fill in your details on the form below so we can look at making this happen.

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.”

(Dr. Seuss)

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

(Winston Churchill)

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”

(Robert Louis Stevenson)

“People who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt those who are doing it.”

Tuesday

TED Talk’s

Each Tuesday we share a different TED Talk.

You’ll notice that some talks will be obviously directly related to personal development and how you use coaching. On other occasions they will be talks where the topics appear more abstract, they’ll be here to prompt new thoughts by coming at something from a different direction – or just because they struck me as interesting/ funny etc ;-)

Blog posts for coaches from around the web

How do posts appear on this list?

The list is created using two different sources:

Source One

Each Monday on this blogs Facebook page I usually issue the following question and invitation:

“Have you written/seen a blog post in the past week that you’d think is of interest to coaches and that you’d like to share?”

Many of the posts shared on Facebook will then appear on this list.

Source Two

I personally add posts that have attracted my eye for one reason or another. Sometimes this will be because it fits with a request from a reader about what the want to read more about. Sometimes it’s a post that covers a topic I know from working with clients that coaches will find valuable and/or interesting. Then there are also the posts that just really resonate with me personally.

Whilst to some extent I’m reliant on what’s written each week and what I see, I attempt to provide a mix in this list of different approaches. Some of the posts deal with logistics and answering “how to” style questions, some will be coaches sharing their own experiences and approaches and some posts will fall more in a spiritual category.

I’ll guess that because of the broad spectrum of the list they’ll be some posts you love and others that really don’t appeal to you. My suggestion is to read the posts you’re drawn towards – it’s here to inform, entertain and provide value not to create lots of thought about which you do and don’t like. :)

Many thanks to everyone who shared the quotes above and the other quotes from last week. I know that there are various aspects that can influence if a quote attracts your attention – if you saw the tweet, personal style, if it speaks to something happening in your life at that moment etc.

Which quote do you prefer?

(For those of you as geeky as I am and wondering what tool I’m using to measure individual RT’s this week I’ve been playing with www.twitonomy.com)
