Sacred Money, Sacred Life Transformational Exercise

By Debra Larson

"Sacred Money, Sacred Life Transformational Exercise" by Debra Larson

Most people, I really believe, are living their life not feeling fulfilled or as if they’re living on purpose. I think you probably all agree with me. Look around. That’s what you see. Maybe you’ve even felt that yourself in the past. I know I have.

That’s why I got into business for myself. I was feeling really unfulfilled and like I wasn’t living my purpose. I also felt like my future was being left up to someone else. If any of you have connected with my story on my website, you’ll know and understand that at the point that Eric and I lost everything that I had made a decision if that should ever happen again, I’d be able to rebuild quickly and I’d love doing it. Big difference, right? I’d actually know how and enjoy the process of rebuilding and I’d know I could do it quickly. I knew at that moment I was ready to build again my own business, but this time it looked much different than before, I was training others how to live a fulfilled life, in complete abundance with sharing their knowledge with others and really enjoying it.

I want to help you take your actions and what you’re doing daily and put them into perspective so that you have a way of living your life and appreciating your life at a much deeper level than you ever have.

I teach an exercise that is called “Sacred Money, Sacred Life” taken straight from my Simply Wealthy Sacred Money Archtype© Align your Financial & Spiritual Destiny course which is a very deep, thought-‐provoking exercise, its a very powerful exercise, very illuminating.

We are going to go ahead and do this exercise together.

Put on some soft music, make sure the rest of the house is quiet and take some time for you. Many people don’t think about these things, and when you do it can be life changing – very transformational.

Just remember that “allowing” the emotions to flow can be a good thing, it means that you are healing and moving forward.

Sacred Money, Sacred Life, is designed to help you let go of the things that don’t matter in life and to focus on what does matter most.

This is the sad irony. What matters most is often what gets lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life. I am here to help you put that back front and center.

The second piece of this putting it all together in the Discovering Your Financial Life Purpose exercise, but I will not be teaching this here today.

This is a journaling type of exercise with four questions that build upon each other.

I would love for you to have the benefit here and now with me today to start to write answers for yourself, don’t wait, take action today.

The first segment of these four pieces is called purpose and impact.

I want you to imagine for a moment that you have all the money you need to live the life of your dreams. Take that in for a moment. You have all the money you need to live the life of your dreams.

With that taken care of, what do you spend time on? What do you feel is your purpose? What impact do you focus on creating? Who do you feel called to help? Why do feel compelled to do this?

This is a moment to be as specific as you can and to really allow yourself to dream. Take a few seconds just to write down any first thoughts that come up.

The second question here is on perspective and priorities.

You’ve just learned that you only have five more years of life. The end will come without notice.

Knowing the end of your life is coming sooner rather than later, what changes will you make? What will you do with this all-‐important final phase of your life? What will give your life meaning? What’s the legacy that you want to leave?

Journal the first answers that come to mind. Don’t second guess the answers. Just write.

The next section is completion and closure.

You’ve just been told you only have one day left of life.

What are you feeling?

Are there any regrets or disappointments? Do you have dreams you wish you had fulfilled? Is there anything you wish you had done differently now that your life is about to be complete?

Journal the answers that come to you – First answer, best answer.

For some of you this is bringing up a bit of emotion, take a deep breath and just write what comes.

“You’ve just been told you only have day of life…what are feeling? Do you have unfilled dreams – regrets, what would you do differently?

The final section is realization and renewal.

Looking back at what you journaled in this exercise, what are you saying you want to change in your life?

What choices or decisions will you now make? What are the main themes that you’re noticing? When I say theme, I mean thread or things in common.

I’d love to hear what you’re already seeing as the value from this exercise, comment below and write what value came – it’s highly personal so you don’t need to give specifics in nature, just what value came from this.

I really love this exercise because it’s a bit of a wake-up call for many of you. Great job!

So the power in this exercise comes from this final section “realization and renewal.” I want you to create some concrete action steps you can now take. Be specific. Many of you will have the inclination to be very sweeping and general with your answers.

Let’s take the question:
“What choices or decisions will you now make?” You may say, “I’m going to make new choices about things that make me happier.” That’s very nice, but that doesn’t really mean anything. I want you to get really specific on the action, choice or decision.

There’s no right or wrong way to do this exercise, but you want to be aware of taking you to a more concrete, specific place of action as a result or as a next step of this exercise. That’s what I want you to be looking for in the realization and renewal section.

If you said, “I need to make decisions that bring more happiness in my life,” I would say, “That’s great. What is one of those decisions right now?” I just want you to chunk it down and be specific.

Now here is your Simply Wealthy Action Step: I want to ask you to set a timer for 15 minutes, grab something to sip on such as a cup of coffee or tea, wine, whatever – just relax and take yourself through this exercise in detail. Really dive into this, and do this by yourself and for yourself. You can share it a friend, maybe share it in our comments box below – just share it in some way to really deepen your findings here. State what insights and aha’s come from doing this exercise.

Most importantly, Do this for YOU!

My Weapon of Choice: Self-Confidence 1

In today’s guest post coach health coach Susan DiGiaimo shares some thoughts around confidence and how that is influencing her work.

"My Weapon of Choice: Self-Confidence" A guest post by Susan DiGiaimo

My Weapon of Choice: Self-Confidence

by Susan DiGiaimo

Everyday you have a choice to make things better, make better choices and do something for yourself. Some days are better than others. On those particular days when things do not go as well we usually end up beating up ourselves. I have learned from my own experiences that you just have to keep on going, thinking positively and moving forward.

Where did I gain this self-confidence? My mother was an extremely powerful role model for me. She had and still has a very strong work ethic. ”You can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it.” She also helped shape me into the woman I am today and I am thankful for that. Strong, transparent, empathetic, these are just some of the words that describe me.

I know now as a mother of three that, if you do not take the time to take care of yourself, you are not going to do a good job taking care of anyone else. Self-confidence is not something we inherit, we don’t learn it in school like Algebra, and it is definitely a challenge for some of us to gain. Ask me if I ever used Algebra again in my professional career, no. I would probably have benefited from a class about how to gain self-confidence.

Health self-esteem is like our armor against the challenges of the world. Individuals who know their strengths and weaknesses and feel good about themselves seem to have an easier time handling conflicts and resisting negative pressure. As we try, fail, try again, fail again, and then finally succeed, we develop ideas about our own capabilities. Now for kids self-esteem fluctuates as they grow. It is every evolving based on their experiences and perceptions.

I have a daughter who is nine years old. Her personality traits are being fun, loving, smart, determined, confident, and huggable. She didn’t always know why she was unique and what she was passionate about. She is constantly changing and growing like all of us.

We need to appreciate our children as they are for what they are. As kids grow and develop, their overall sense of self-confidence and personal worth grows and changes too. Self-confidence is about how confident we feel about our talents and abilities, not just how others perceive us. Children with self-confidence feel secure about themselves, regardless of how smart or successful others say they are.

I initiated a Kids Fitness Program first focusing on girls. We know that a girl’s self-confidence is based a great deal on how she looks and how others perceive her. Unfortunately society, media, our child’s access to computers and different technologies makes them even more vulnerable to not having good self-esteem.

I wanted to give girls the opportunity to be able to express and develop their key personality traits and recognize what makes them special or unique. I also wanted the girls to learn proper exercise technique and to understand what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. I believe this needs to start at a much earlier age and my classes start with kids in Kindergarten.

There are different exercises and activities for each age group and we know that because we are motivated by others. Competition is healthy and it let these girls come out of their shells, speak amongst their peers and also get stronger physically. The entire purpose is so when they continue on into Middle School or High School they are very aware of who they are and how they can put their best foot forward.

I know these kids absorb information like little sponges. Armed with Monkey tape, journals, and mats I set off to teach these girls how to do lunges, squats, mountain climbers, and push ups. No question the Monkey tape was a huge success. I place this so-called Monkey tape on the floor for proper placement of their feet for squats and lunges. By the last week they didn’t even need it.

Class was not easy. Even a seasoned athlete would have found it to be somewhat challenging. ”You are almost there, (now all the girls are counting down with me), 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 high fives everyone!” ”Give me five more and then we can get some water.” Most of the time everyone would give me five more. You are much stronger than you think. I tell this to my adult Boot Camp class as well. Mind over matter. They have to understand that they are not going to get it right the first time, but if they continue to try, they will succeed. Things happen by choice not by chance.

I am very proud of my girls in my first class and I look forward to seeing some of them again and watching them continue to gain more and more self-confidence. More importantly let your child’s personality shine, love them for who they are, not what you want them to be. I want them all to keep that sparkle in their eye and never let it fade.

Self-confidently Yours,

Susan

Your Coaching Service Needs YOU!

In today’s guest post performance coach Marie Yates addresses something that is relevant to coaches in all niches of coaching.

Your Coaching Service Needs YOU!

By Marie Yates

YOU are your coaching service! So while you’re looking after the marketing, the planning, the finances, the diary… Oh, and the clients… How are you looking after YOU?

You know that the synergy between the mind and body is paramount for true health and wellbeing so do you put this into practice? Do you conduct a large percentage of your business over the telephone? What would happen if you lost your voice?

  • By maintaining a healthy immune system you are much more likely to fight off common viruses. Make sure you are well rested, drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy, balanced diet. Also, managing your negative emotions and stress levels will prevent you from becoming run down and more susceptible to illnesses.

Do you spend a significant amount of time sitting down to work and driving to meet clients? What would happen if you needed to take an extended break from sitting down and/or driving due to back pain?

  • Monitor your posture and how you sit whilst conducting your coaching sessions, work on the computer or when you’re at your desk. The spine is designed for motion so if you find that you are sitting still for long periods of time, take a break and stretch your body. When you are sitting down avoid slouching or leaning forwards.
  • There are additional benefits to having a good posture… For example;

ο A good posture enables effective breathing – deep breathing acts as a stress reducer, releases endorphins (your own unique painkillers!) and focuses the mind!

ο Enhanced capacity for thinking – with correct breathing, there will be more oxygen getting to the brain, enabling it to do an effective job!

ο Improved self image – try slouching for thirty seconds and then sitting up straight, breathing deeply… Is there a difference in how you feel?

Do you feel your energy levels dropping throughout the day? What would happen if you were not giving your client 100% during their session or you a leading a workshop and the fatigue sets in? Eat well balanced meals throughout the day! Although you know that need to aim for your 5 fruit & vegetables a day – do you do this? Avoid the quick fix approach to energy levels that caffeine and sugar have to offer as what goes up, must come down!

  • Drink water and lots of it! Fill a 2 litre bottle with water every day and make it your aim to finish it!
  • Get plenty of sleep! Become more aware of your body and its natural rhythm. If you are an early bird – get up & start the day a little earlier to be your most productive self. If you are a night owl, stay up a little later and get the most out of your day!
  • Take regular exercise! The benefits of exercise are not a secret so incorporate it into your day… With all the exercise DVDs and computer based exercise regimes on offer you don’t even need to leave the house – although fresh air and a change of scenery is an added bonus!

Give yourself the BEST and look after yourself… Lead by example and make sure you have the energy in your mind and body to strive for your own goals!
