Our Life: “We walk by faith and believe by sight”

One of the basic questions I ask guest posters is what would they most like to share with the blogs readers.

This week Andrew A Faccone has chosen to share a personal experience:

Our Life: “We walk by faith and believe by sight”

By Andrew A Faccone

"Our Life:"We walk by faith and believe by sight" by Andrew A Faccone

2 Corinthians 5:7 We walk by faith, not by sight.

Those of us who view life from the optimist’s perspective enjoy many of the benefits of life that much of society cannot comprehend or even understand The optimist sees each day as a new opportunity- a chance to make a difference and leave the world better than when he awoke to a new day.

The readers of this blog are making a conscious effort daily to improve themselves so they can have greater impact where they are in their lives. Taking time to read inspirational or motivational readings enables to the reader to better handle the negativity that life presents us with.

Paul “Bear” Bryant, the legendary American college football coach for the The University of Alabama had a plaque on his desk which stated “We Must Get Better Spiritually, Physically and Mentally each and everyday. We start off with the best of intentions daily but life and the day to day commitments, challenges and obstacles we all face sometime make those intentions bigger than what they really are. This unique perspective on how we are able to handle life is not an elite’s perspective that we are better, we are just better prepared to handle what life presents us with. I find myself going thru my daily interaction with a smile on my face, an appreciation for life, a kind word to share with people and the desire to improve on a daily basis.

To help better implement this process you must make you a priority. It sounds easy in theory but many times we forget about ourselves and other “things” in our daily lives distract us and we are not a priority. Those “priorities” begin to gain momentum. Days become weeks, months turn into years and many times we lose control, forgetting that person we once were.

With the recent start of the New Year 2015 we all make resolutions to start anew, creating a better way and changing some of those habits or rituals to make a better you. Those of you reading this post on the second week of January – are you still just as committed to those resolutions as you were on Dec 31, 2014? The optimist that you are (because you are making a conscious effort to improve yourself by reading this article) has a driven purpose to make a difference in your life. The burning desire to improve, to stretch, not to settle where you are, to see things as they can be, not as they appear to be.

The optimist takes a different approach to life and is also criticized for the way he goes about his daily life.

Many times throughout a person’s life, challenges, obstacles and road blocks present themselves ,testing the optimist’s resolve in overcoming those formidable challenges. During our lifetime we are constantly evaluating how to react to situations, we learn from others who have experienced similar situations and we begin to share that knowledge with others who we interact with. The learning and sharing process is a lifelong process that we all experience.

Then there will come a situation that will truly test your every fiber, you will truly question your reason for existence. I am referring to the death of your parent. I recently lost my father Anthony J. Faccone this past April 12, 2014, after a brief illness.

The world has been quite different since my father’s passing. I was blessed to have my father in my life, my married life with my wife, my family’s lives and both of my children were lucky enough to have had their Grandpa in their lives in so many ways. He was the 5th person in our 4 person family. We did everything with him and he did with us.

The new normal has not been the easiest since his passing, as there have been some challenging days, frustrating situations and our family has had days that have been missing something since his passing. We are all tested in life in many ways, what you believe deep down inside will reveal itself when you need it most. When the challenge is the most difficult your true resolve will reveal itself. What you believe and demonstrate will see you thru those challenging times.

What I have discovered since his passing as I make a dedicated effort to get my life back to the ”new normal” I draw upon my reserves of optimism and wisdom that my father shared with me my entire life.

Those Pearls of Wisdom have appeared and aided me numerous times since last April. Life is not easy, those who possess a vision for life, a burning desire to live with a purpose and believe in there heart of hearts with all they possess there best days are still ahead That belief system will help you weather the challenges you are presented with. We are all faced with many challenges. what you have deep inside will help sustain the storm and thrive when the storm passes.

I was so very fortunate to have such a wonderful father who did so many wonderful things for me, for my wife and for my children. He was a man of action who shared with me all the things I needed to know to excel in the game of life, lead with character and be the husband and father my family is worthy of. I would not be the person I am if it wasn’t for the man who was my father

In closing you may not understand why things occur as they do in your life, you must rely on yourself and what your gut tells you to do a different times. You must walk by faith and believe by sight to reach your bright & unlimited potential.

“Without a vision people will perish” 1

In today’s guest post Andrew A Faccone combines his personal beliefs and experience to share some thoughts around success.

"Without a vision people will perish" A guest post by Andrew A.Faccone

“Without a vision people will perish”

By Andrew A.Faccone

“Where there is no vision the people perish.”

(Proverbs 29:18)

The majority of our modern society is removed from many of each day’s activities, caught in the cycle of keeping up with what everyone else is doing and not focusing on themselves or their own long term goals, which will impact their life personally and professionally.

Having a greater vision of where you want your life to be at any given moment is within reach of every person who is envisioning the end result, where they want to be. What mark will you leave on this world?

Each day is truly a gift and with the gift you and you alone are allowed to determine the outcome of your actions. Think back to a time in your younger years when you were asked if you wanted a special gift for your birthday, graduation from school, or from Santa Clause.

The young child will make grandiose requests for a shiny toy, a certain electronic gadget and the more important clothes item that “all the other kids have”. Then after a lengthy sales pitch, prolonged reminders and constant communication by the child that desires it, the item will ultimately find its way into that child’s possession.

The teenage years bring about the same types of requests with even more specifics geared toward the latest and greatest item. I am very fortunate to coach both my daughter Juliana’s basketball and softball teams along with my son Drew’s basketball, little league and travel baseball teams. Many of the requests that come from my children are from the sports related, electronic communication devices (can we say Apple) and fashion minded clothing apparel wish list.

We truly need to be more like our children in our thinking and our approach to life. A bigger picture of life with unlimited boundaries with very little stress? Have you ever seen a child under 12 years of age stressed out?

What is our purpose in life? What do we hope to accomplish, achieve, conquer and leave our mark creating our legacy during our life? Some of us will teach, some will coach, be parents, work in the various service industries, trades using your given talents, become writers, bloggers, social media experts and some will even become entrepreneurs based upon the previous mentioned talents.

Paired with our purpose we also create the vision for what our future will be, we determine our future with the words we are saying. Proverbs 18:21 says the tongue has the power of life and death. We don’t realize what power our words can have impacting positively or negatively in all situations we come in contact with in our day to day lives.

In preparation for writing this blog piece I was reflecting on many of the various goals I had made for myself, work diligently toward, readjusted my course of action and ultimately overcame the many challenges and achieved what I had sought after. My life has been a series of goals, actions steps and ultimately achievement through a step by step approach. Hard work & determination can achieve anything when paired together to overcome the tallest of challenges and the most difficult of goals.

The hardest part of any journey is the first step. Where do you envision yourself in 3 months, 6months, 1 year, 2 years and even 10 years from the time you read this article. What do you picture yourself doing, how detailed are you in that vision of success?

Another key element to fulfilling that vision of success is having a burning desire. A desire that burns to your inner core, that same desire that will reinvigorate you on the darkest of days and make the brightest of days even more meaningful because you are one step closer to achieving that goal. Your vision is your picture of your future – your desire is what will transform your dream into a reality.

My career is in healthcare sales. My day to day activities are different than many people in other career choices. In sales, you and you alone have to motivate yourself, execute your plan, readjust your plan and then repeat the successful part of that plan daily. Day after day, week after week and year after year. The sales goals will get bigger and the demands of the position will increase. It takes a time tested approach, a vision and a burning desire to achieve what you truly want in life.

When you finish reading this article, think about something that you have been putting off, something you would like to do, but haven’t gotten to it. When its important enough to act upon and follow through on, that is when the vision will become a reality.

Most importantly believe in yourself, your abilities and what you are truly capable of. You have been successful throughout your life to this point, why wouldn’t you continue to achieve greater things as your progress forward. When the challenges become more demanding a more creative plan is required. That creative plan will enable you to achieve that desired result. Just as we have all found this blog site from various parts of the world, that same vision and desire will allow you to explore new boundaries of opportunity within yourself creating greater outcomes and endless opportunities for greater success.

Make that goal, be daring, really stretch yourself, have the desire to see it through and you will amaze yourself in what you will be able to accomplish. Make it quickly because tomorrow is coming faster than you think.

I look forward to hearing of your successes and accomplishments. Can Do! Yes, you Can!

Balancing the Push and Pull of Life

In today’s guest post Andrew A. Faccone draws upon his own life experiences and his coaching expertise to share 3 points around life, commitment and time.

Balancing the push and pull of life1

Balancing the Push and Pull of Life ..

By Andrew A. Faccone

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.”

(Albert Einstein)

We are all given 24 hours a day, 1,440 minutes per day and 86,400 seconds per day to use how we see fit.

Those of us reading this post are very fortunate and blessed to choose how we are to use that precious time we are given. That allotted time has a short life span, it must be used immediately and it cannot be carried over. If it is not used properly it expires.

It is our choice to maximize or minimize how we allocate our days, weeks, months and years that we are given in our lifetime. The mystery of life reveals that life is not a straight line, there is no instruction booklet on how to live and we are responsible for our actions.

The attention that we pay to the little things throughout life has a dramatic effect on the outcomes of our life as we progress and mature throughout our lifetime. Since our birth we have all pursued different paths, we have learned, prospered, been knocked down and despite the challenging conditions have succeeded as well as failed in some of our endeavors. The challenges have made us stronger and the shortcomings have taught us what not to repeat in the future. In some cases we are all learning from those shortcomings.

Past events somehow always re-appear at various times throughout our lives. In the time of our youth we pursued our education and the playful desires of our youth. Academics, athletics, music, literature, sciences, religious education, play time with our childhood friends, youth and civic groups, participation with a strong supervision from our families who attended those important life events. They cheered us on in victory and comforted us when the results did not materialize as hoped for.

When our formal education ended we then used our educational backgrounds or God given talents to find a way to make a go of it on our own. Welcome to being a grown up! We now face the commitments of professional life, parenthood, earning a living, providing for our families, advancing our professional careers and now we have become those attendees routing for our family members as they progress through their childhood and young adult activities that we participated in in the not so distant past.

Where is the person who wanted to change the world and make the difference in the world?

Is this life still a life in balance? Is there equal push and pull in our daily activities? Finding that balance, the constant struggle that addresses all of the aspects of our lives. Spirituality, physicality, and mentality.

I am asked many times in all of my personal & professional travels how did I get where I am in life? I have some of the answers to this question and some answers I do not have. I have been blessed to have had some extraordinary people that have been a part of my life. Nine years of a disciplined Catholic school education, athletic participation in high school and college, a loving family along with several key family members who taught me about the true lessons of life and that I can do anything that I set myself to attaining.

I try to rely on 3 key points and try to use them as my daily guide as I try to find a balance between the many commitments I am involved with in my daily life both personally and professionally.

What you say will determine what you will become. I have always been a believer in word affirmations. The words you are projecting will impact your individual outcomes. If you’re not projecting positive words and expecting great things to occur, they will not happen. If you don’t believe something will happen nobody else will. Use those empowering words to get you to where you want to be.

  1. Control The Controllables is the most important piece of our lives’ direction. We cannot control other people or the actions that they undertake, outside events, or decide the specific outcomes for certain situations. We can only control ourselves and our actions; we are accountable to those actions and decisions that we ourselves make. No one else. Do the best you can to work on those goals both short term and long term, work diligently and constantly change your approach to achieve your goals, but understand you can only control what is in front of you. A strong will can conquer anything, but you also have to be realistic in what you undertake.
  2. Have a goal & the end point in mind. We all set out many times to undertake certain projects but never have the end goal in mind. Example: I am going on a diet and lose weight. That statement screams starve yourself and constantly not be satisfied with even losing the smallest amount of weight. Give yourself credit for wanting to lose weight and changing your eating habits. Whenever a new habit is introduced to our lives it takes roughly 28 days to form a new habit. You have to give yourself credit and realize that to be successful and create a new habit it takes time. Having the end point in mind, losing 1-2 pounds weekly and trying to exercise on a more regular basis is a realistic goal & plan. It is not where you are it’s the direction that you are headed that counts. Keep that goal of where you want to be ever present in your daily actions. You’ll be surprised what you can attain.
  3. Enjoy the journey Life is full of surprises, challenges, and lot of unexpected “things “occur. When life throws the unexpected curve at us daily, which it does to us at some point, we need to readjust and get yourself back on track of the task at hand. Interruptions, issues, something totally unexpected is going to occur. Deal with it quickly and to the best of your ability and get back to what you were you were doing. Once that event has occurred put it in the rear view mirror and move on. Tony Robbins, noted author & motivational speaker, referenced the statement ‘the past does not equal the future’. It is so true. We all need to be aware of this statement and realize that we are doing the best that we can, with the time we have to enjoy each day with its many challenges and surprises.

Life is an attitude -have a good one and you will enjoy the wonderful journey. When you start to make these new adjustments in your daily activities, changes in those daily habits, week after week, month after month, and year after year you will start to recognize that new person in the mirror who you have not seen in some time. Start small but think big, because you can do it, great things are coming your way… it all depends on you!
