Why our silliness and humanity matter, with questions for coaches
There’s something so freeing about this.
Liking people not despite their quirks… but because of them.
The odd habits, the contradictions, the offbeat humour.
The things that make them unmistakably themselves.
It can be easy to admire the polished parts.
But so often, it’s the softer, sillier, more human moments that make us feel closest.
And maybe that’s true for us, too.
Maybe what makes us lovable isn’t our effort to seem impressive… but our willingness to be real.
Coaching Reflection: The Beauty of Absurdity
- Whose quirks do you find yourself smiling at lately?
- Where do you let your own silliness or absurdity show?
- How do you help clients soften around their own humanity?
- What happens in a coaching space when perfection drops away?
As always:
You don’t need to answer every question.
Let the ones that nudge something stay with you a little longer.
They often bring a smile with them.
“Ah, she thought, that’s what liking people amounts to; it’s liking their silliness and absurdities. That’s what it really is.”
