What shifts when we stop trying to fix or guide, and simply listen?
Today is #ListeningDay. At the heart of coaching is listening, not to fix, guide, or even understand… but simply to be there.
When someone is truly listened to, something shifts.
They might speak more freely, think more clearly, even surprise themselves.
Sometimes, they talk themselves out, letting the noisy thinking move through, and in the quiet that follows, something else emerges: clarity, wisdom, a sense of what matters.
Listening makes space.
Not just for others, but for ourselves too.
There’s often more waiting to be heard, beneath the surface, beneath the noise, if we’re willing to slow down and listen inward.
Questions For Coaches
- How does your listening shape what your clients hear in themselves?
- When have you seen someone speak their way into stillness or clarity?
- What gets in the way of really listening, to others, or to yourself?
- What might you hear today if you stopped trying to make sense, and simply listened?
And if one question lingers, stay with that one.
Sometimes the thing we most need to hear is already quietly present.
