On experience, insight, and the simplicity of just taking a sip, with coaching questions
It’s such a clear image:
You can read every word ever written about water… yet that won’t soothe a dry mouth.
Sometimes what we need isn’t more thinking, planning, or understanding, but a moment of direct experience.
A pause. A breath. A sip.
There’s a time for reflection and study.
And there’s a time to put the book down… and simply feel what it’s like to be alive.
Coaching Reflection: From Knowing to Drinking
- Where are you still trying to understand what might be simpler to feel?
- What happens when you stop seeking and take the next sip?
- How do you support clients in moving from insight to experience?
- Where might you be standing at the edge of the water, forgetting it’s okay to drink?
As always:
There’s no pressure to answer every question.
Let the one that lands linger.
Sometimes the smallest sip is the most satisfying.
“If we wish to quench our thirst, we must lay aside books which explain thirst and take a drink.”
(Jean Pierre de Caussade)
