Why experience matters more than prediction — with reflection questions for coaches
There’s something freeing in this.
How often do we try to figure it all out first—to predict, analyse, or prepare for every twist and turn?
But honest imagining isn’t the same as living it.
And even the wisest advice can’t replace what it feels like to actually take a step.
So many times, things have unfolded in ways I never could’ve predicted.
And when I let go of needing to know first… life has surprised me.
With possibilities I didn’t even know were options.
Sometimes, the only way to know… is to go.
To try.
To see.
To live your way into understanding.
💭 Coaching Reflection: Experience Over Prediction
- Where are you waiting for certainty before you move?
- What has experience taught you that no prediction ever could?
- How do you support clients who want to “get it right” before they’ve begun?
- What opens up when we value experience over prophecy?
As always:
There’s no pressure to answer every question.
Let whatever resonates find its way deeper—you may not need to predict where it leads.
“Prophecy, however honest, is generally a poor substitute for experience.”
(Benjamin N. Cardozo)
