Make Up Your Own Holiday Day

“Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving, make every day a holiday and celebrate just living!”

(Amanda Bradley)

March 26th is “make up your own holiday day.” I’ve often read that a particular day is a day to celebrate x, y or z and wondered how that happened.

Don’t get me wrong, I joyfully take part in the fun of some – In the UK we have just celebrated mothers day and we’re only 179 days from International talk like a pirate day (September 19th in case you are wondering.) I just get curious about how, for example, 24th March is the American National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day (Not to be confused with the Chocolate Covered Anything Day on December 16th!)

A holiday (or holy-day) is a time to celebrate, commemorate or honour a particular event, person or thing. It is often a time designed to raise awareness/remember and generally be grateful.

Sometimes, particularly when you’re really busy, it is easy to start taking things for granted or miss acknowledging the things you are grateful for.

I know from my own experience and from working with clients that there are several benefits to being grateful – amongst other things it can increase your satisfaction with life, reduce envy and generally feel good.

This week I invite you to notice what you are grateful for (and by all means celebrate it on make up you own holiday day.)

As always this is your list you may have things there that are huge and others that may seem smaller but you’re grateful all the same.

Some of the things may involve people and what they do, others may involve opportunities, not forgetting inventions and physical items.

Some things you may be constantly grateful for, others may be very specific to a particular day – on a really chilly day I’m always much more grateful for a big warm coat and gloves than I am on a hot summer’s day.

I’d be grateful if you shared your experience with this

Have a week full of things to be thankful for,

Love

Jen
